How payments work
Your card is held, not charged, until you confirm you got the item.
When you pay for an item, your card is authorized and the funds are held — you're not charged yet. The payment is only captured (charged) once you confirm you've received the item, or after the inspection window auto-releases.
Protection for both sides
Your money isn't gone until you have your item, and the seller knows the funds are secured.
