How do trades work on Trade Up?

Browse or list an item, then make an offer — cash, a trade, or a mix of both — or Buy Now at the asking price. Your payment is held securely, the seller ships or you meet up, and the money is released once you confirm you got your item. For shipped orders you get a 3-day window to check it first.

What if a shipped item doesn't arrive or isn't as described?

Use Report an Issue on the trade during the 3-day inspection window, before payment releases. That starts a support request and our team helps resolve it, including a refund if warranted.

How are my payments protected?

When you pay, your card is authorized and the funds are held — you're not charged until you confirm you received the item, or the 3-day window auto-releases. Your money isn't gone until you have your item.

What does it cost to buy or sell?

Buyers pay a 3.5% service fee on the item amount (not shipping). Sellers pay 0%. On shipped orders you can add optional Buyer Protection for $0.99 (items under $20) or $2.99 ($20 and up).

Can I meet up locally instead of shipping?

Yes — choose local pickup and meet in a safe, public place. Finish the trade with the in-app QR code or backup PIN, protected by your device's Face ID or passcode.

How do I report a problematic user?

Tap the ⋯ menu on a profile, listing, post, or storefront and choose Report. Pick a reason and add details — reports are confidential and the person isn't told who filed it.

Why do I need to verify my identity?

Verifying your ID (via Didit) earns you a verified badge and helps keep the community safe. Your ID is encrypted and never shared with other users, and verified members tend to get more offers.
